Kunstbrücke

[…] For the Kunstbrücke, Margreiter Choy has designed a grid system into which rods can be inserted, which in turn support wooden panels in three different sizes. These can be attached to the rod system individually, or side by side and one above the other. They provide space and opportunities for presenting artworks, projecting video works, or configuring new spaces. Additionally, a rail system is mounted onto the ceiling where various curtains can be hung. These divide the space into separate zones and provide dynamism through their wave-like arrangement and varied color palette: blue like in a TV studio, green like a green screen, black and white. They control the incidence of light and create a path through the space that breaks up the rectangular architecture. This creates a flexible system of movable textile walls that enter into a dialogue with the existing wall surfaces, and individual segments that can be integrated into the room’s structure like screens as needed.

The Kunstbrücke can thus be adapted to the needs of various formats—exhibitions, performances, lectures—while Margreiter Choy’s intervention remains visible at all times and blends into the respective setting. The flexible architecture itself becomes, in a sense, a performative element in the space—variable, with different textures and formats. It is an active concept through which the exhibition space can transform like a stage.
